October is car care month, but AAA is getting a jump start -
encouraging people to check their cars now before they see problems later.
Whether it's your tires, fluids or belts, one wrong turn can be a costly adventure. That's why AAA hosted its annual free car inspections at the Ridgeway Sunoco in Greece Saturday morning.
“It gives me a little more peace of mind," said John Capizzi of Gates. "You never got enough eyes looking at your car. So I wanted to get their opinion on the condition of my car."
Drivers in the Rochester area had the chance to take advantage of trained car-care professionals, for free! And it's all to help kick off Car Care Month in October. What they are looking for are things like cracked hoses or belts. AAA says this is just preventative maintenance, all to make sure your car stays running this winter.
“What we want to do is stop it before it starts,” said Jim Wirth, a AAA Auto Repair Specialist. "Years ago, you would go to a service station and they would check your fluids, they would check your tires. Today, that's not going to happen.”
Events like this offer drivers another opinion before it's too late or before the repair becomes too costly.
"It definitely does not hurt to have a second opinion,” said Wirth. “Much like a doctor, if it is something serious, I would recommend a second opinion."
"It's a good check to make sure I am all set for the winter,” said Carol Cenzano of Greece. “It's a great service that AAA offers."
Wirth says even if you couldn't make it to their free inspection, you should get your car looked at before the winter driving season.
