'Hot Shots' Shooting Case Heads to Grand Jury
The case against a man accused of shooting another man at a Rochester bar and sporting complex was referred to the grand jury.

Jose Correa, 44, is accused of shooting his friend Victor Wilson, 44, inside Hot Shots Thursday night around 10 p.m.

According to court papers, Wilson, Correa and another friend were at Hot Shots eating and drinking. The friend said he heard a loud pop, then saw Wilson and Correa quickly leave. The three got into a car and drove to strong hospital together.

Police say Wilson was rushed to surgery last night, where his spleen was removed. Prosecutors said there was some concern early on that he might not survive.

Police say they later picked up Correa on E. Main Street and charged him with assault. They say Correa shot Wilson with Correa's legally registered gun.

Hot Shots owner J.B. Shares says he saw the men at the bar and didn't notice anything unusual. He says everyone, including Wilson -whom he has known for years, seemed to be having a good time.

Shares was shocked when he heard there was a shooting at his bar.

"It surprises me because that's certainly not the atmosphere we create,” said Shares. “We have hundreds of people who come in every night literally. We've been around for 18 years and we've had two three situations where we've had to ask people to leave. …It's an unfortunate situation and unfortunate incident and I hope he's ok."

Police are still investigating what lead up to the shooting.
Some who were at the bar last heard the shooting was accidental.

Correa is in jail on $75,000 bail.
