Arrests Made During Anti-War Protest
Rochester Police arrested 11 people Wednesday night, following an anti-war demonstration in downtown Rochester.
Police say a group of about 100 people marched west on Main Street towards Clinton Avenue. Police say an officer tried to stop the crowd as a firetruck tried to pass. Officers also tried to move the demonstrators up onto the sidewalk.
About 40-officers were sent to the scene. Police charged 11 people taken into custody with unlawful assembly. Police also charged four with resisting arrest, and one with obstructing governmental administration for allegedly hitting an officer with a drum.
That protester was taken to the hospital to be treated for an injury that his father tells us occurred sometime during his arrest.
Protesters say police used excessive force against them.
