For a company already very much established in the Monroe County area, SenDEC is arguably one of the fastest growing companies around here.
SenDEC, a Perinton-based company, moved into the old Paychex building on Perinton Parkway to make room for the future.
"We've moved from a 23,000 sq. ft. building into a 60,000 sq. ft building and as you can see from walking around, we've pretty much filled it already”, said President Kenton Fiske.
It's filled with circuit boards for copiers, photographic equipment and MRI components. What's there, but what you won't see, is “confidential” equipment for the military and custom-made products for companies like Toro, Honda and Yamaha.
"When I'm asked if we have any competition, I usually say, 'oh, I don't think that we have any”, joked Fiske
It is a nice thought, but not completely true. SenDEC president Kenton Fiske says in order to stay competitive, the company had to do it in a place where competition is fueled.
Monroe County did that, offering SenDEC $100,000 from the county's Development Block Grant Program and incentives through COMIDA. The state offered a $75,000 Empire State Development Grant as well.
The company attributes its current success to one thing in particular.
"Our strength has been in the diversification of our customer base and actually, diversification within the customers", explained Fiske.
More customers mean more jobs for SenDEC. An additional 32 jobs brings the total up to 90 SenDEC employees in Monroe county.
After more than thirty years in business, SenDEC says the move is especially exciting because it celebrates another new beginning.
