Embrace Your Sisters
When you are diagnosed with cancer, you want to focus on getting well, not how you are going to pay the latest bill.
There are many costs that come with fighting a life-threatening illness. Chrisann Philipson was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. Her family and friends wanted to do something to help her and other women.
That is why they have started “Embrace Your Sisters.” It will raise money to help cancer patients like Chrisann pay for the many expenses that insurance cannot cover.
“On top of the co-payments and time lost from work, even trying to hire someone to do some housework for you,” said Philipson. “To cook some meals…just the simplest things that you do not really think about in your day to day life until you are affected somehow.”
Embrace Your Sisters will hold their first event on Sunday, October 22. It will also benefit the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. The old-fashioned chicken barbecue with auctions and music runs from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Ionia fire house on County Rd. 14.
