Greece Central School District

The Greece School Board is left answering questions after the state comptroller's office performed an audit.

The board met with auditors Monday night for more than three hours.

The report claims the district overspent by $2.5 million on a capital improvement project between 2000 and 2004.

Voters approved the project under former Superintendent Steven Walts. Greece's current board members were not serving during those years.

Further findings indicated a lack of transparency from town officials and school board members. The board says the upcoming new capital improvement project will be different this time around.

"Everything will be very open it will be posted to our website after the board sees it, and there will certainly open to any questions from the community on this project," said Steven Achramovitch, Greece Superintendent.

A complete report from Monday night's meeting will be available as late as early April.
