More than 2.5 million passengers went through the Greater Rochester International Airport in 2009, according to county data.

The county said that while it is a decline from the previous year, Rochester actually fared better than other airports across the country that saw sharper declines.

County Executive Maggie Brooks credits the better numbers to the fact that the airport was able to hold the line on airfares, continue flying to key markets and maintain good services for passengers.

The county said 2010 already looks better, with January numbers this year higher than January 2009.

Of all the airlines, most were flying Delta, which had a 23.3 percent total passenger share.
