A local contingent of first responders and motorcyclists taking part in the 10th annual America's 9/11 Ride, took off from Spencerport Ambulance early Thursday morning.

Riders will visit the three crash sites from the September 11th terrorist attacks starting with Somerset, Pennsylvania which is just outside the site of where United Flight 93 went down.

Friday, the motorcyclists will head to Arlington, Virginia where American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. Then on Sunday morning the memorial ride will be escorted to ground zero.

"It's important that people remember the events from September 11th, what happened. And really, a lot of it comes down to the reasons why it takes longer getting through security at the airport, getting through security at the boarder when crossing in or out of Canada, things like that. I think people really have forgotten why security levels are the way they are now a days," said firefighter, EMT and local ride organizer Jeff Krywy.

Money raised from the annual memorial ride goes to America's 9/11 Foundation which supports the families of fallen first responders and those still dealing with the effects of 9/11.
