The suicide of a Buffalo-area teen has once again brought the issue of bullying back into the national spotlight.
The Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley opened its doors Monday evening for a forum to provide support for community members wanting to talk about their experiences.
"For young people experiencing bullying, whether they're gay kids or straight kids, it's okay to ask for help. You can't give up. There are safe caring adults for you to turn to," said Jessica Cohen, youth services director. "Many of the kids who attend our programming identify as straight."
The Gay Alliance also provided information about local support and resources for LGBT youth, adults, and their families.
