Casey Bortnick

Reporter Casey Bortnick officially joined the YNN Rochester team in October of 2006. You can watch his reports Thursday through Sunday nights.

Casey became the health reporter in 2008. Watch his "Healthy Living" reports Saturdays and Mondays.

Casey spent the previous five years as an Reporter/Anchor at Time Warner Cable 8 News in Jamestown, NY. There, he made a name for himself covering the five month manhunt for fugitive Ralph “Bucky” Phillips for all four of Time Warner Cable’s Upstate New York news channels and briefly for CNN.

A native of the New Yorks' North Country, he graduated from Au Sable Valley Central School outside of Plattsburgh in 1997. Casey attended SUNY Morrisville where he studied Journalism Technology and was named captain of the Mustang football team.

After graduating from Morrisville in 1999, Casey transferred to SUNY Brockport where he graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He honed his skills hosting his own sports talk show at WBSU radio and covering numerous news and sporting events. Casey got his start in TV in Virginia Bacheler’s Broadcast Journalism Class and on the campus TV station.

Casey is the youngest of five children and enjoys spending time with his seven nephews and three nieces. His father is the Environmental Health Officer at Plattsburgh State University and his mom is a School Nurse at North Eastern Clinton Central School.

Casey is an avid sports fan who follows the New York Jets and the New York Mets. He’s also a big fan of Notre Dame Football.
