Leah George

Leah George can be seen reporting from the field Monday through Friday on YNN.

Leah started reporting at YNN (formerly R News) in June 2004.

Many friends and family members believe Leah’s career in broadcasting started long ago as the “Voice of Midlakes High School.” Leah woke everyone up bright and early with the morning announcements for four straight years.

Before returning to the Rochester area, Leah was a reporter and videojournalist in the Ithaca regional newsroom of YNN (formerly News 10 Now) after having worked as a producer and anchor at WETM 18 News in Elmira.

She also worked as an associate producer at News 10NBC (WHEC-TV), a DJ at news radio 1550 WGCR in Canandaigua and a reporter for the Livingston County News in Geneseo.

Leah was awarded an Edward R. Murrow Award for regional coverage of the “Jason J-Mac McElwain” story and several National Press Photographers Association Awards (NPPA) for coverage of breaking, news, hard news, in-depth and feature stories.

Leah graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in communications and public relations. She is currently pursuing an M.B.A. at St. John Fisher College.

Leah is a volunteer member of The Greater Rochester Community Transportation Foundation and enjoys volunteering as an emcee for several annual events including the Relay for Life.

Traveling, music, dance and family remain closest to Leah’s heart.
