Mike Hedeen can be seen reporting weekday nights on YNN Rochester.
After covering sports for more than 30 years, Mike made the transition to news in 2006 as YNN Rochester nighttime reporter.
Mike began his television career at KBJR in his hometown of Duluth, Minnesota where he covered the 1976 Silver Broom World Curling Championships.
He’s a former sports director at WDIO in Duluth where he called play-by-play for University of Minnesota-Duluth hockey.
Mike has also worked for WLUK in Green Bay, Wisconsin and KWWL in Waterloo, Iowa. There he hosted the University of Northern Iowa Football Show. He’s covered Big Ten and Big East college football and basketball in addition to the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers.
Since his move to news, Mike provided live coverage the night the Fast Ferry left Rochester, in addition to former Vice President Dick Cheney and First Lady Laura Bush campaigning here for local congressional candidates.
Mike has garnered many awards form his days in sports including the Rochester Press-Radio Club’s Gary Smith Award as Sportscaster of the Year, The Rochester Red Wings/American Legion Sports Reporter of the Year and the Section V Soccer Media Awards.
Mike is on the board of directors at the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester and a member of the marketing committee.
He is an avid vegetable gardener and also enjoys cooking.
Mike is married and the father of two.
