You can watch Seth Voorhees' reports weekdays on YNN Rochester.
Seth grew up on his family's dairy farm in Cato, Cayuga County. His folks say he started reading the newspaper when he was six. It didn't take long for them to realize Seth's future was not in milking cows.
Prior to coming to Rochester, Seth's career in news began in radio at WSGO in Oswego. From there, he moved to WMBO/WPCX in Auburn, where he anchored and reported the news, and eventually became News Director.
For three years, Seth also did play-by-play for Auburn's minor league baseball team, then known as the Astros.
Prior to arriving at YNN in 1995, Seth worked as an anchor/reporter at WHAM radio in Rochester.
Seth's professional achievements as Senior Reporter at YNN include two New York Emmy awards for General Assignment Reporting and General Assignment story. The Radio Television News Directors Association has recognized Seth with six of its prestigious Edward R. Murrow awards.
In 2000, the Associated Press/NY Broadcasters Association awarded Seth for General Excellence in Individual Reporting. He has also received AP awards for Best Feature and Sports Reporting.
In 2006, Seth was a finalist for the Photojournalism Award for Reporting, from the National Press Photographers Association.
Outside of work, Seth enjoys golf, softball, home improvement projects, and, most of all, spending time with his daughter. They make their home in Rochester. He's also learning how to play the guitar, with mixed results so far.
