You can watch Chief Meteorologist John Koska on "Weather on the Nines" Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday mornings 5 a.m. through 4 p.m.
John joined YNN Rochester in 1996.
John's fascination for weather began while growing up south of Buffalo. "When I was young, I couldn't believe how much lake-effect snow my town would receive and yet 10 miles out of town the grass was showing, says John.
He adds, "I knew then that I needed to find out the answers."
John likes to watch and play hockey in his spare time. He played varsity hockey for both Geneseo and Brockport State College. You might also find John fishing at one of the greater Rochester area's lakes.
John received a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in meteorology from Brockport.
John does not just share his knowledge of meteorology with YNN viewers, he has also taught meteorology classes at Monroe Community College in the past.
John, his wife Nicole and their daughter live in the Wayne County town of Ontario.
