The City of Rochester accepted a donation that will allow them to purchase a second mobile recreation center.
Recreation on the Move is a program that was launched last year aimed at providing access to the healthy, educational and fun activities the city recreation department has to offer.
The Greater Rochester Health Foundation donated $62,000 to the recreation department. That allows the city to purchase and staff the second vehicle.
“The Greater Rochester Health Foundation was very supportive in the planning stages for the first truck and stepped up to the plate and engaged with us and made sure we were able to expand this program as quickly as possible because they saw the benefits in the community and the children and they didn’t want to delay that at all,” said Luis Burgos, commissioner of the Department of Recreation and Youth Services.
The new vehicle will enable the city to dedicate on vehicle to each side of the city.
