Man Arrested in LeRoy for Robbery
A Monroe County man, Robert Lee Hizer, 32, was arrested by LeRoy police Saturday with for allegedly robbing a gas station.
He was arrested following a reported robbery on Lake Street in the village.
According to police reports, Hizer entered the store and threatened the clerk with a note demanding money and cigarettes. He then left the scene on foot and presumably entered a vehicle to drive off in at a later time.
Witnesses of the incident were able to identify the car Hizer was in and informed police who stopped the driver after locating him.
Hizer attempted to flee the scene on foot and was eventually apprehended by police.
Hizer was arraigned in LeRoy Town Court and sent to Genesee County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
Further charges are pending as police say Hizer was intoxicated during this incident and there was a child under the age of 16 in the car at the time of the attempted getaway.
