Victims of Local Man's Ponzi Scheme to Receive Payment
The U.S. Government will be returning around $9 million to victims of a Ponzi Scheme allegedly run by a late Honeoye Falls man in 2009.
Ashvin Zaveri, 71, was accused of cheating investors out of almost $35 million in
"oil and natural gas exploration partnerships" in Tennessee and Kentucky through his business Zaveri Oil and Gas.
Zaveri was under indictment until he was found dead in Mendon Ponds Park in 2010, which ended the criminal case.
The government will make payments to a number of the 120 victims through two of Zaveri's life insurance policies and a bank account.
