PA man shoots and kills ex-wife in a church
COUDERSPORT, PA — We're learning new details about a fatal shooting in a Pennsylvania church.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, 52-year-old Gregory Eldred walked into First United Presbyterian Church and shot his 53-year-old ex-wife, Darlene Sitler, in front of the organ. It happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to court documents, witnesses told investigators that Eldred shot Sitler four times in the chest before leaving the church. They say Eldred left the church before returning.

At that time, witnesses say Eldred threatened to shoot at least one other person.

Sitler was pronounced dead at the scene, but no one else was injured.

When police arrived, parishioners had taken Eldred into custody.

The Coudersport School District's superintendent says the district has made arrangments for grief counselors to be available for students and staff members.

Police say no one else was hurt.
