Buffalo Bills issue response to Assembly Democrats
The Buffalo Bills are responding to Assembly Democrats that proposed additional provisions on the teams Memorandum of Understanding for its stadium lease with Erie County.
The Assembly Democrats are pushing for additional fines should the Bills choose to relocate during the first seven years of the 10-year lease agreement. The proposal includes forcing the Bills to repay the state for all stadium renovations and operating costs contained in the lease.
The Bills responded to the Assembly's proposal, saying in part:
"The team agreed in writing to these protections months ago. The reason for the proposed legislation is thus a complete mystery to us."
The team's new lease agreement for Ralph Wilson Stadium was passed by Erie County in a unanimous vote in January.
