Lawsuit Money Awarded in Fatal 2005 Bus Crash
Three members of a women's hockey team involved in a fatal bus crash in 2005 have received a total of $2.25 million as part of a lawsuit filed against the bus company.
The decision came from the state Supreme Court in Livingston County.
The team's coach, his young son, the mother of a player and the driver of a tractor-trailer were killed in January 2005 when their bus slammed into the tractor-trailer that was illegally parked on the side of Interstate 390; 16 other passengers on the bus were injured.
The bus company, Coach Canada, had assumed most of the legal responsibility for the crash.
Two players and an assistant coach were awarded money for the crash. All three say they suffered post traumatic stress disorder.
