Assistant City Manager Brian White said Canandaigua Fire Chief Matt Snyder brought misconduct and incompetence charges against the firefighters.

Snyder did not release details surrounding the charges saying it was a disciplinary issue. The names of the firefighters are being withheld. However, the case will be presented to a hearing officer on March 29 and 30 where both sides will explain. However, the employees have requested the hearing be closed to the public.

White said the punishment can lead to reprimand, suspension, or even termination. The firefighters were suspended without pay beginning March 5.
