The University of Rochester's Warner School of Education is holding the 5th Annual 2012 Genesee Valley Writing Project Summer Institute.
The summer program runs from July 9th through the 27th and is designed to improve the teaching and instruction of writing to local teachers.
The three-week-long intensive professional writing institute provides educators in Monroe and surrounding counties advice and methods on helping students improve their writing in classrooms settings.
On Tuesday, a group of teachers from the Writing Project Institute went to the NEAD Freedom School to learn creative concepts in which to educate themselves and their students in the future.
"The more well rounded and diversified that you are in your teaching methods, and things that you see how different students learn and where different students come from, the better you're going to present as a teacher because you're more well-rounded," said Mary Ellen Hayden, teacher at School of the Arts.
This year's Summer Institute participants includes teachers and professors from various educational levels and backgrounds throughout Rochester.
