A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday for the the Art Walk Expansion Project.
Art Walk is an urban art trail connecting public spaces through art and cultural resources in Rochester.
The completion of the second phase of Art Walk extends the trail further west on University Avenue, connecting the Neighborhood of the Arts with the Memorial Art Gallery.
"If you look at after Art Walk I, the property values over the next 4 or 5 years improved about 30% to the point where the building on the corner there, the Flat Iron building, which was bought for $400,000 nearly 20 years ago, was able to be refinanced for over ten times that 15 to 20 years later. A lot of that was because of the project," said Jim McIntosh, city engineer.
Federal funding helped make the completion of Art Walk possible.
