Dent Institute Defends Conversion Disorder Diagnosis

AMHERST, N.Y. — One of the Western New York health centers that diagnosed more than a dozen LeRoy students with Conversion Disorder is speaking out about the case.
The Dent Neurologic Institute in Amherst issued a statement defending its diagnosis and said there are 19 patients exhibiting symptoms.
Dent examined and treated 14 of them and the institute says most of its patients have improved significantly over the last several months.
Neurologists with Dent say they considered other diagnoses like PANDAS and environmental
factors and have ruled them out as possibilities.
