Flags to Be Lowered in Honor of Sgt. William Wilson III
NEW YORK STATE — Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered that flags on state government buildings be lowered to half-staff on Monday in honor of a Western New York soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

Sergeant William R. Wilson III died Monday from gunshot wounds. He was killed by someone who appeared to be a member of the Afghan local police.

Wilson's body is expected to return to Western New York by the end of this week. He was a graduate of Williamsville North High School.

In a written statement Cuomo, expressed sympathy to Wilson's family and friends, and said we will always be grateful for Wilson's service and dedication.
