HAMBURG, N.Y. — “The nationwide manhunt for Dr. Jordan is over. It is believed to be Dr. Jorden that was found with what is believed to be a self inflicted gunshot wound," said Dennis Richards, Chief of Detectives, Buffalo Police Department.

Police say New York State Parole officers assisting in the search found the body in surgical scrubs off a footpath on 18-Mile Creek Road, about 800 feet behind Dr. Jorden's Lakeview home.

"We're getting together all the information we can but based on the information we had and details of tattoos and things, it's been him." said Buffalo Police Deputy Commissioner Charles Tomaszewski.

Dr. Jorden was considered a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Jackie Wisniewski Wednesday morning at ECMC. Wisniewski, a receptionist at the hospital, was shot four times in a stairwell at the D.K. Miller building. According to reports, Wisniewski and Jorden had previously dated.

"We're all very shocked about it," said Bruno Lombardo.

Lombardo, a Lake View resident, watched the search unfold Friday morning as the Erie County Sheriff's Office Air One Chopper landed in a yard just across the street from his house. He says he remembers doing business with Dr. Jorden.

"Dr. Jorden was a customer of mine. I sold him a couple of cars in the past, probably about six years ago, but he was always a gentleman," said Lombardo.

While the search for Jorden may officially be over, now investigators are trying to figure out what caused such a well respected doctor to become the focus of a national manhunt, then take his own life.

Police say they plan to release more information about the discovery at a future news conference.
