Arnprior Rapid Manufacturing Solutions employs so many former Kodak workers that for some, it feels like little has changed since they left the big yellow box.
Arnprior formed in June of 2008. Like many of its neighbors at the Eastman business park, it is the result of a divestiture of Eastman Kodak.
While it's a newly formed company, leaders say workers bring years of experience.
"It's exciting because it opens up a whole new customer base we weren't able to touch before. I have world-class machinery. I have world class people working in here, highly technical," said Brett Lebeau, injection molding.
Arnprior helps clients develop and then bring their products into production. There are 160 employees working in 170,000 square feet of space.
"We are the biggest type of company in terms of what we do in the northeast of the U.S. We have 15 technologies and it’s all under one roof,” said Chris Howell, vice-president and general manager. “We enable customers to very quickly bring their products to market, and having done that, we're then able to bring them into production very quickly."
Employees make those products for clients like Johnson & Johnson, ITT Industries, and Kodak. And while the work may be the same, the overall environment is not.
"I think the benefits of working at a smaller company is having the flexibility to get decisions made rapidly and quickly, and help develop products for clients," said Andrew Mastowski, prototype development.
Company leaders hope all that development will lead to more and more clients.
"The economy is tough. Having said that, we've won 56 new customers since June 4, and we're adding them of a rate of five to six a month," said Howell.
