Microworx recently celebrated its 15th anniversary in business. The Brighton-based computer sales and service company has grown since its humble beginnings.

Jeff and Kay Leist started Microworx 15 years ago in their basement with three employees; they now have 15 employees.

Microworx opened its Brighton retail store five years ago. The Leists say they found success by changing with the times.

"We started doing a lot of used computer equipment, then used computers, then new computers, then servicing computers," said Jeff Leist.

Microworx gets most of its business doing repair and upgrade work.

"The biggest phone call we get now is, 'I think I have a virus or malware, spyware,'" said Kay Leist.

The Leists say they blow away their big box competition by having the largest inventory of in-stock computer components in town.

"And they come to us. We get all our competitors coming and buying computer components from us because they know we have it," Kay explained.

"And our best referral source is probably Best Buy and Radio Shack because when they don't have something or can't fix something they send their customers here," said Jeff.

That helps make the future look bright.

"We don't see any changes in the repair market. While computer prices keep coming down, the repairs are staying about the same. We repair 500 computers a month. We sell about 100 to 200, depending on the month and we don't see many changes there," Jeff added.

About working together as a married couple, "We still get along, we're still happily married. We have four children," Kay said.

"We've been married 20 years, in business 15, so we're doing pretty well," Jeff replied.
