A Rochester-based drapery company moved into a larger space earlier this month.
Drapery Industries moved from St. Paul Street to Humboldt Street with an optimistic outlook for the future.
Drapery Industries has been serving western New York with specialized drapery products since 1966. Company President Mark Kosinski said its growth over the years gave the company little choice but to grow its facility.
"The move was necessitated because we essentially ran out of space. We had 10,000 square feet in a loft building," Kosinski explained.
The new headquarters translates into 1,000 additional square feet and an expanded production space. The company manufactures window treatments, theater curtains and cubicle curtains for many area industries.
"We focus on health care markets, area hospitals, nursing homes, also schools, both higher educations, universities and also high schools and grammar schools," Kosinski said.
Even in a tough economy, the company remained solid. The last two years have been the best to date.
"We are fortunate. I think we had the right products at the right times and a great customer base. So we're pretty well diversified with our customer base. And as we introduce new products, they've been well-received. And we've been well positioned to serve those markets," Kosinski added.
The company employs 21 workers with the promise of creating more jobs as it expands. Kosinski also plans on developing new products.
"For sure we're anticipating continued growth. We have some new products we're developing, motorization for some of our current products and we anticipate we will continue to grow our business in the future," he said.
