Telecommunications companies require an abundance of equipment to produce the products they sell. But what happens to the equipment once it's done being used?
That's where Pics Telecom International steps in. The Rochester based business specializes in managing the equipment that companies like Verizon and Sprint can no longer use. This includes switches, optical and data equipment.
"We'll get equipment in from a carrier. There's no packing slip or documentation. Everything has to be broken out, and it could be tractor trailer loads of equipment, and laid out," said Robert Atkins, Sales and Marketing Vice President.
The equipment comes into Pics free of charge, and Pics has the option to resell or recycle. Once a profit is made, the business shares a percentage with its client.
Pics prides itself on its mission to reduce the environmental footprint.
"That's something we're at the forefront of right now. We're at a good position globally. We're quite proud to be able to provide those services because that's where we focus most of our activity," said Atkins.
And the hard work is paying off, as Pics was one of thousands selected for the Verizon Supplier Excellence Award.
"We just got it again this year. It's for providing all the logistic support and asset management that we provide on Verizon," said Atkins.
Pics is expanding globally, with locations now in England and Hong Kong.
