A longtime Rochester law firm is making some moves into the future. The location and name have changed, but as YNN's Virginia Butler tells us, the firm's commitment to Rochester remains strong.
The Boylan Code Law Firm is hanging its shingle, bearing its shortened name at the renovated Culver Road Armory.
The firm started in 1974 and was known as Boylan, Brown, Code, Vigdor, and Wilson. With the new name comes the same full service law firm with a focus on business clients.
"We've been an integral part of the Rochester legal community for a long time and we were very concerned about staying in the city and finding space that could accommodate our growth and keep us all on one floor," said Carol Maue, Boylan Code, LLP.
From the employees’ perspective, the move from Chase Square downtown is a big improvement for the firm.
"We were on two floors in our old location and we found sometimes it inhibits collegiality. You don't necessarily jump up and run downstairs to talk to somebody. Here you just walk down the hall,” continued Maue.
The move also gives Boylan Code more office and storage space, along with other perks such as free parking.
"The fact that it's free parking is like a boon to employees. It's like a pay raise because parking downtown is very expensive,” said Maue.
Donald Young is an associate at Boylan Code and calls it a family friendly firm for employees. He believes clients will also appreciate the close proximity to 490 and downtown.
"It's a lot easier to get to. We're right off the highway, the parking is a snap. You park right outside and come in. It's very accommodating for clients to get to and come in to," said Donald Young, Associate, Boylan Code, LLP.
Carol Maue says the firm wanted to stay in Rochester because it sees a bright future through the haze of negative economic trends. The move to Culver Road Armory is proof positive of that commitment.
"This is a fabulous platform for us to continue to provide the services that we always provided to our clients," said Maue.
