Gregano, Italy is revered as the pasta capital of the world and one Rochester man has made it his mission to bring the flavors of old world Italy to Rochester.

Gary Pino and his family are no strangers to the food industry. Pino's father, Rosario, was a produce distributor.

"They used to sell all the fruits and vegetables to Wegmans, when Wegmans was small. I used to work on the truck when I was 15 years old and we used to deliver them at 2:00 in the morning," said Gary Pino, owner of Rosario Pino's Artisan Foods.

Pino has worked in the kitchen business for 40 years. He has traveled the world and worked with celebrity chef's along the way.

"Being on Emeril Live three times, Malta Mario, Guy Fieri," said Pino.

Now Pino is ready for a new adventure.

"We're trying to create an environment where you can get good, healthy food, not processed foods," said Pino.

Rosario Pino's Artisan foods has item's typically not found in grocery store shelves but rather restaurant quality ingredients. Pino is also catering to the gluten free community.

"They said to me, Gary, pasta is horrible, cookies are horrible, bread is horrible, I wish you could make some products for us," said Pino.

So he did. There are gluten free pasta, snacks, ravioli, and pizza. Pino wants his artisan food store to be much more than just coming in and grabbing items off the shelves. He said it is a place to get educated, that is why there is always an executive chef on hand.

"You'll come in and say, Debbie, I need a great hors d'oeuvres, or I'm doing a pork or fish dinner. What can I use to go with it? What products will work with it," said Pino.

In an effort to keep his Italian heritage alive, Pino is sharing his love for food, with the Rochester community.
