Job seekers got a first hand look at employment opportunities during Monroe Community College's job fair.

The event showcased various jobs available in the community, including ones in the fields of technology, health, sales and marketing, social work, and finance.

It was an opportunity for people to network with business and company groups. People could talk one on one with company officials, learn more about required skills for certain jobs and hand in their resumes in hopes of getting a head start for a future job.

"It's important to have events like this to show the community that there are still some job openings out there so people don't give up, and there is still some hope, and these type of events is what we need to let people know there are still jobs openings out there," said Ivan Matthew, MCC Student Services.

More than 35 companies took part in the event including ESL, Heritage Christian Services, YWCA and 5LINX.
