The surroundings have changed, but the faces are still the same. A ceremony Friday morning at the Seneca Park Zoo welcomed the totem pole from the former Midtown Plaza.

The old familiar faces of the totem were donated to Monroe County two years ago by Midtown Rochester Properties. Officials were on hand at the zoo to officially welcome the historic landmark.

"Today, the unveiling of the totem pole is yet another event that underscores that we wanna make this a well-rounded, full-family destination for people in the community," said Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, Republican.

The totem was saved following the closing and demolition of the old Midtown Plaza.
