A Seneca County Sheriffs deputy shot a man in the arm Thursday night as the man was punching him.
Deputies say they got a call just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Premption Street in the Town of Waterloo, just across the border from the city of Geneva.
Deputies say Aaron Russ, 40, was acting aggressively, and deputies were not able to subdue him. They say Russ attacked one deputy, and a taser had no effect on him.
Investigators say Russ was punching the deputy in the face when the deputy fired twice, hitting Russ in the right arm.
Russ was taken to Geneva General Hospital, he has since been released. Investigators say he is a parolee who removed his electronic ankle bracelet, and that he appeared to want a confrontation with deputies.
He has since been taken to the Ontario County Jail on a violation of parole warrant.
The Seneca County Sheriffs Office says charges from the incident are expected to be filed later.
