A body was sighted and pulled from the Genesee River Thursday morning. The discovery was made near South Plymouth Avenue.
Rochester Police say they received a call around 9 a.m. from someone reporting a body in the Genesee River. Police say a woman walking along the trail saw the body and called police. It was along the west bank of the river, near the Elmwood Avenue bridge.
The Rochester Fire Department brought the body to Genesee Valley Park where it was turned over to the Monroe County Medical Examiners office.
Police say it's the body of a male, but the age and identity have yet to be determined
"So certainly we will look at any outstanding missing persons that we have to see if this person would match up to that missing person that we have," said Commander Tim List of the Rochester Police Department. "That will be an ongoing effort."
Police believe the body has been in the river for at least a few days, making it difficult to determine the age and identity of the male victim.
