WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Smithsonian researchers announced the discovery of a new species of mammal.
The rare find is a raccoon-sized creature called the Olinguito.
According to researchers the creature lives in the mountainous forests of Ecuador and Columbia.
The two-pound Olinguito is nocturnal, leaps from tree to tree and eats fruit.
Experts said a discovery like this hasn't happened in about 35 years.
