The Irondequoit board of trustees held its first annual Barbecue and Blues for Books fundraiser on Saturday.
Community members enjoyed food from Alex’s Place and Nancy’s Fried Dough, live music and a variety of prizes.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Irondequoit Public Library Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the newly-built library.
"We had a vote in April and the community was, very positive about the fact that they want a new library, and, I guess we wanted to follow up on that enthusiasm and have something that they could come and enjoy and bring their families," said Mary Ellen Jones, Event Co-Chair.
Jones said that they have had nothing put positive reactions to the event, and hopes to have another fundraiser like this one in the future.
