The U.S. Department of Labor has fined a Fairport ice manufacturer for nine serious and three repeat workplace safety violations.
OSHA says Arctic Glacier Incorporated on Turk Hill Road failed on many counts to maintain a safe work environment for its workers. As a result, OSHA has proposed a fine of nearly $150,000.
This isn't the first time Arctic has been fined for workplace safety violations. In 2007, OSHA fined Arctic for 20 serious violations following a serious accident at the plant which injured two workers.
Arctic Glacier is the second largest ice producer in the country. Arctic has 15 days to respond to the proposed penalties.
