A committee against the marina development project set to possibly break ground this fall near Ontario Beach Park met on Wednesday.
The Save Our Beach Committee is led by Alex White, the Green Party candidate for Rochester mayor. The committee thinks money would be better spent cleaning the water in Lake Ontario.
At the petition drive, members spoke out against the nearly $30 million Port of Rochester Marina project, and why water, job creation and more park events are better priorities.
"This is what the city thinks is working and instead the citizens are not getting a whole lot of benefit for all that we're putting into it and this is just a perfect example of a project in which the people of Rochester come second," said White.
The committee plans to take the petition signatures to City Hall.
