The University of Rochester is not wasting any time introducing the freshman class to the community and area non-profits.
It is known as Wilson Day.
For the 25th year in a row, the U of R is taking more than 1,000 freshman into the community to volunteer at 92 locations as part of the orientation program. Tasks include cleaning up Mount Hope Cemetery and serving meals to senior citizens.
This year, U of R is partnering up with the City of Rochester to have students pick up trash and clean garden areas as a mini clean sweep.
Following the afternoon of volunteering, there will be a community service fair for students on campus.
