A police sergeant shot in the line of duty was given a key to the city in a special ceremony Thursday.
Rochester Mayor Tom Richards gave the key to Rochester Police Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic to recognize his efforts in apprehending a homicide suspect in June.
Zenelovic was shot in both arms on Norton Street in a gun battle with homicide suspect Ralph Strong. He has since fully recovered and says he's grateful to be recognized.
"It's nice for the mayor and the city to recognize not only me but everyone else who was here today and the exceptional work that they do day in and day out and it's a nice gesture," Zenelovic said.
Richards also recognized other police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel for their dedication.
