Rochester claimed the top prize at the New York State Fair for having the Best Tasting Water in New York State.
More than 250 people at the fair chose the winner from 10 water systems that had won regional contests. Rochester residents consume an average of more than 21 million gallons of water per day. The water is produced by the Hemlock Filtration Plant, which comes from Hemlock and Canadice Lakes.
The village of Fort Plain in Montogomery County came in second.
