Funeral services today for the U.S. Army Sergeant and combat medic killed in a crash on Interstate 490 Thursday night.
Darren Manzella, 36, gained national attention in the fight to end the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy against gays serving.
Manzella's wake was held Monday in the village of Brocton in Chautauqua County at the Morse Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Saint Dominic's.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say witnesses saw Manzella driving erratically before he got into a minor crash. Deputies say he then got out and was trying to push his car off 490 when another vehicle hit him from behind.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
