Walesy was known to friends and family as Wally. They say she was on Pullman Avenue just trying to help someone move when she was shot and killed.
Some of those friends, co-workers and distant relatives were at the scene where she died in front of a memorial for her.
"Best person anybody could ever meet. She was just great. "
Some of Walesy Alvarez's friends who we spoke to Thursday knew her since they were kids.
"I've known her since I was seven. She's like an older sister to me," said Ana Rivera.
They say Wally, was on Pullman Ave. helping someone move out. Police say she was sitting inside a car parked in front of 274 Pullman when she was shot and killed.
"She was a mother of three beautiful girls. Young mother at that. Very proud of her – hard worker. She went to school. She did everything she could for her girls. She did anything she could for anybody," Rivera said.
These friends want Marcus Freeman brought to justice, and are upset he was even out of jail, pending the rape charges he is already facing.
"He should've been in jail. They should never have let him out," said Rivera.
"He took an innocent person's life... her kids... at 10:30 in the morning. Her kids have to grow up without her," said Tasha Brayer.
"On the first day of school. You know what? Every day they go for the first day of school, they're going to remember their mother passed away," Rivera said.
Wally's friends say they're not worried for their own safety. They're just waiting for an arrest.
