More than one-thousand parents and students attended "Start Strong" Saturday, an event hosted by the Rochester City School District.
The event kicked off the school year with workshops, student performances, a mini-carnival and the fire department mobile unit. The family affair provided additional support for families with school-aged children.
"We wanted to sponsor a Start Strong event for our students to encourage them to not only start strong but also to maintain and finish strong academically as well as socially. The purpose of today's event is to engage our parents and to connect them with district personel as well in a different environment," said Willie Robinson, District Coordinator of the Office of Parent Engagement.
The Start Strong event was a combined effort between the RCSD, the Office of Parent Engagement and the Rochester Fire Department.
