ORLEANS COUNTY, N.Y. -- One person is dead and four others hospitalized, after a crash in Orleans County Saturday night. The Orleans County Sheriff's Office said that sun glare may have caused it.
Deputies said 28 year old Ashley Morehouse was driving along Oak Orchard River Road in the Town of Carlton around 7 p.m. when she ran a stop sign and hit another car. Both cars were thrown off the road.
Morehouse was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Gary Weese, 40, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight. Morehouse's four year old son, Dominic, was also taken to Strong but was later released.
The driver of the second car, Lorrie Kuhns, 53, and her husband, Thomas Kuhns, 61, were both taken to Erie County Medical Center. Both were evaluated and released.
Deputies said the accident is still under investigation but they do believe the sun was a contributing factor.
