The Cancer Wellness Connection of Greater Rochester hosted the 6th annual Ovarian Cancer 5K Run Sunday morning at Cobbs Hill Park.
The Cancer Wellness Connection is a non-profit providing free services to patients undergoing chemotherapy. One of their goals is helping patients maintain a sense of normalcy through activities such as personal training, yoga, crafts and games. They also hope the run promotes awareness about gynecological cancers including cervical, ovarian and uterine.
Betsy Twohig-Barrett, President and Executive Director of Cancer Wellness Connection, finds encouragement in the increase of awareness.
"It's great to see more people coming out in support of the women who have gone through gynecologic cancers, are going through gynecologic cancers and just drawing more and more attention to this important health issue for women," Twohig-Barrett said.
All proceeds benefit the Cancer Wellness Connection of Greater Rochester.
