There are some changes to the traffic pattern to get on Interstate 390 in Brighton. The New York State Department of Transportation has a new on-ramp to 390 from East River Road.
The DOT made the changes at the Exit 16 on-ramp to 390. Motorists traveling southbound will now have to make a right on East River Road to use the new ramp.
This also means motorists traveling from East River and Kendrick Roads will no longer have to cross West Henrietta and East Henrietta Roads along I-390 service roads to access the expressway.
"Whenever we can reduced delay and reduce congestion, that is improving safety. We have to monitor all of this traffic that is in this area. This is a very busy area, particularly with all of the students and the campus here at the University of Rochester and all of the neighborhoods that are here, so getting people direct access to 390 has been a goal of ours for a long time," said Lori Maher, NYS Department of Transportation.
There are new signs up to guide you though the changes.
The new roundabout on East River Road is also open.
