It was standing room only as the Rochester Area Community Foundation presented its 2013 Philanthropy Awards.
The awards honor individuals and groups who create positive, enduring change within the Rochester community.
One of the recipients was Eric Zeller. Zeller created a donor-advised fund to support local charities. He also created a scholarship program through Hillside that so far has paid for 11 college educations.
Zeller says you can make a difference by helping one person at a time.
"They would've become not only at risk, they would have become a problem, and now not only are they out of college, but they have degrees and they have exceptional jobs. They're part of the community. They're success stories," Zeller said.
Other award winners included the family of Robert and Jane Stevens, and former New York State Regent, Dr. Walter Cooper.
